My mom, 55 yrs has hard subcutaneous nodules on left lower-leg than has hardened and skin on leg turned black and swelled..can it be cancer?

Must be seen now: I am seriously concerned about calciphylaxis. This needs to be ruled out by a physician visit without delay. There are other possibilities as well. I'm glad your mother has you to help her. Good luck to you both.

It depends on many o: It may just be a bruise in case she bumped or accidentally hit herself. But the size of the nodule(s) matters and also the length of time she has had this. Several weeks of progressive growth in size and any painless lump or noduel is suspect for cancer and it should be checked by her doctor.
