First steps: Quitting addictions can b easier for some people than others. Most people who succeed in the long-term make multiple attempts. Odds of sustaining quitting dont really improve much until quite some time, so not relapsing is as important as quitting. The american cancer association has good tips for stop smoking, and there are support groups for alcohol. Mds and psychologists can also help.
