Diabetes: Any fasting blood sugar > 125 mg/dl is in the diabetic range. A hba1c would be helpful for diagnosis. Urine glucose is usually negative unless blood sugars are over the kidney threshold of 180 mg/dl or so.

Diabetes: There are some who would classify a fasting glucose over 125 as being diabetic. Any glucose over 100 is considered prediabetic. Levels at 135 needs to be addressed. Consult with a doctor for a program of treatment that could be a diet and exercise with weight loss before getting on meds.

New-onset diabetes: Blood sugar over 127 is concerning. The official diagnosis of diabetes is a fasting blood glucose of greater than 140. Sugar will only show up in the urine if the blood sugar is over 300-400. Check an a1c to confirm. You could also check a blood sugar 2 hours after a meal: over 200 is diagnostic. Start metformin 500mg once or twice daily and follow a diabetic lifestyle with diet and exercise.
