EKG afib: An ekg can diagnose afib. There are many different abnormalities that can be seen. Abnormal does not equal a fib.

Afib: Atrial fibrillation is a specific cardiac rhythm abnormality. There are a load of specific cardiac rhythm abnormalities on ECG and others also. All the term 'abnormal ecg' means is that the recording isn't normal, it doesn't describe what the specific abnormality is or means.
