I had bruxism yrs ago. it may have stopped, but not entirely sure. then, it started back. what should i do?

Orthopedic Dentist: The cause of bruxism is rarely correctly treated. Most dentist make a bite appliance for you to wear to keep from grinding away the teeth. This is only treating the symptom and not the cause. The usual cause is the roof of your mouth (palate) is too narrow in comparison to the lower jaw. The muscles not finding their home position keep searching = bruxism results.

Night guard: Have your dentist fabricate a night guard for you. When made properly they will protect your teeth from excessive wear and soothe the muscles in your face and neck. Do not opt for the cheap boil and bite trays. You will chomp on that all night (like a piece of gum) and create more muscle woes!
