Type of filling?: After one hour if an amalgam filling and right away if it was a composite filling. Not until the anesthesia wears off if you were given an injection to make you numb. Limit gum chewing anyway, especially gum with sugar.

Gum after a filling: Once numbness is gone, resume your normal eating routine and chewing gum. Take care.
