A member asked:

Will starving help you lose weight or is this a bad idea?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bad idea: You will definitly lose weight if you starve and don't eat, but you will lose muscle weight more than fat weight making you weak (and still overweight). It can damage your kidneys, cause mineral imbalances that can trigger heart problems. Once you go back to your current bad diet you will gain all the weight back. The correct way to lose weight is through a balanced low calorie diet and exercise.
