Possibly: Narcotic medication is a much stronger alternative to other conventional treatments for menstrual cramps such as nsaid's. The need for stronger medication may be required if other alternatives are not effective. The trade off is the side effects associated with narcotic medication, more importantly the sedative effects if you want to stay active during that time.
