Thyroid hormone: Hypothyroidism is very common, especially in women after menopause. If your TSH is elevated and you have symptoms of low thyroid, you should start thyroid hormone. If you have no symptoms, and the TSH is only mildly elevated, one could consider observation for a while and then repeat levels. Supplements such as iodine typically make hypothyroidism worse in the us.
