Not a problem: Sleeping on your side is fine. The pain that you feel is the stretched muscles, ligaments etc due to being pregnant.

No: If you are sleeping on your side you aren't squeezing the baby. The baby is well protected by the water around the baby (the amniotic fluid) and the uterine wall. Pain in back or side is common and can be due to the size and position of the uterus. If it bothers you speak with your doctor.
