Pacemaker: The decision to turn off a pacer or icd in a terminal patient should be made by patient, family and dr. All working together. If the device can not improve the quality of life or meaningfully improve its length, turning it off in an otherwise terminal patient is a reasonable choice.

There is a lot to: Question. I assume the pacemaker was preventing her passing and when turned off her heart rythm became irregular and she passed. I am sorry for your loss. I am not sure of the recommendation. Why would it not be recommended? I cannot think of a reason, perhaps one exists or perhaps the doc had his own reason for saying this based on personal conviction. Interested to see answers.
