Xyrem, Ritalin, (methylphenidate) Nuvi: You tried one specific stimulant, dextroamphetamine. There are several other stimulants you can try such as Ritalin (methylphenidate) and adderal. Additionally you can try a wakefulness inducing medication that works differently than the stimulants such as Provigil or nuvigil. These are all daytime medications. Most patients do best on a medication at night called xyrem (even without cataplexy) +daytime stimulants.
