Yes,but: I doesn't hurt to have your pediatrician to have his/her staff check the results. My nurses do not file away my newborn charts after 2 weeks unless we have the first results on file.

Should: I can't speak for every state, but her in nj the state will notify the parents, the hospital and the pediatrician if there is an abnormal newborn screen. Further, they are absolutely relentless until they get an appropriate response. This is something the state does right, and I am proud of them for doing such a fine job.

Newborn screen: Most states/hospitals have a mechanism for following up on a newborn screen if there is an abnormality. There should be a number on your paperwork to call if you are concerned. Most screens take about 2 weeks. You could also call the hospital where you delivered and find out what their procedure is and speak to the person in charge to find out your baby's results.

Newborn screening. : More than likely, but why worry; just call the hospital. Or have your pediatrician check.
