A member asked:

Are there cases of rai treatment of thyroid disease where thyroid supplement has not been needed? if so, what percentage?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Rare: This treatment almost always eliminates production of thyroid hormone so replacement is ultimately required. If no replacement was needed it raises some concern that the treatment was incomplete. The percentage would be very low - certainly less than one in a thousand.
