Infection: You will need more than a good brushing. Pus means infection. You will need a root canal, perio treatment, an extraction or maybe a combination of these treatments. See a qualified dentist and soon.

Need Treatment Now: Consult dentist/periodontist. Home care: 1) use only soft brush in circles where the teeth and the gums meet. 2) use water pik spraying water in circles where teeth and gum join. 3) use Peridex (chlorhexidine gluconate) (rx by dentist) to assist in controlling the bacteria.

Periodontitis: I would recommend a comprehensive periodontal evaluation. This will allow the dentist or periodontist to arrive at a diagnosis and select appropriate treatment. Initial therapy might include a specific type of cleaning, scaling and root planing. The areas should be re-evaluated to determine if more treatment such as periodontal surgery is indicated.
