A member asked:

Can bronchiectasis also cause regular sinus problems or vasomotor rhinitis?

Not to my awareness.: Bronchiectasis is caused by damage to the bronchial tubes of the lung--usually from infection. The muscle & elastic tissue of the lung are irreversibly dilated which leads to impaired clearance of secretions. Consequently, frequent bronchial infections and breathlessness are common symptoms. However, I am unaware that sinus problems or vasomotor rhinitis could be triggered by bronchiectasis.

No. But...: Bronchiectasis means there has been irreversible damage to the bronchial airways. The lose their elasticity, develop sort floppy areas that collect infected mucus. People cough and produce a lot of sputum. The causes vary, but some type of chronic lung infection or irritation is the usual cause. Some patients have abnormal immunity as underlying cause and have other infections like sinusitis.
