Adult Tonsillectomy: Read this==>http://www.Tonsillectomyguide.Com/blog/tonsillectomy-recovery/comment-page-17. Not more dangerous, just a longer recovery than a child's. As we get older, not only does might the tonsils & tissues occupy a larger area, but the subjective pain and discomfort we feel is enhanced. Be prepared for a week or two of "recovery time, " but don't worry about any more danger than a child surgery.

Not really: There are new techniques out now that cause minimal bleeding and minimal pain. They are much safer than in older days!

True: Removal of tonsils is a more complex surgery after childhood with a bit longer recovery. However, when you're making a decision about a surgery, i suggest to look for the risks and benefits of the procedure. If she's getting a lot of strep throats, abscess, etc, then the risks outweigh the benefits. In hands of a skilled otolaryngologist (ent surgeon), she will have a good surgery and recovery.

Tonsillectomy: Tonsillectomy is generally a safe procedure even in a 21 year old, unless some one has a bleeding disorder. The ENT surgeon will usually check for this before surgery. No need to be worried.
