"under weight": Being underweight means your body weight is at an unhealthy low level due to disease or malnutrition. Most people who can ask a question like this via computer, unless they have an eating disorder, are not truly underweight, they are simply thin. Being thin and not having excess body fat is not unhealthy. If you eat a good healthy diet in reasonable quantities, you do not need to gain weight.
