Seek specialist: If you have had xrays and seen your regular doctor but dont feel like a solution has been reached then ask to see an orthopedic surgeon. They will take a thorough history and physical exam. After that they may want an MRI to look at your hip and they may want to examine it further. Hip joints are complex and you may not feel better until you see an expert.

Possible arthritis: X-rays are mainly to exclude a bone abnormality or narrowed joint space. Check with your primary care physician to see if you need an MRI or referral to an orthopedist or rheumatologist (arthritis specialist).
