Not defined: Normally, kidneys should be able to excrete what you drink. The limitation in CKD iii is in removal of creatinine and other chemical waste. The limit is 30-59% capacity of excreting these chemicals. But, water excretion limits vary from one patient to another. We see some patients with stage iii who have swelling and some who don't. Limit fluid intake to 50 oz per day. Salt control controls thirst.

Common misconception: Urine output is not necessarily related to the production of fluid. Urine output could be high, low or anywhere in between.

Amount is same : The amount of urine you may may not change. CKD suggest that your kidney is less efficient. Until late CKD the amount of urine you make is unchanged and depends on your fluid intake. Hope this helps.
