Possible: In the several years prior to stopping periods it is common to notice irregular periods and hot flashes or night sweats. A hot flash typically is a feeling of heat often over head and chest that lasts 5-10 minutes. It may or may not include sweating. Peri menopause is the several years prior to menopause when the hormones get increasingly irregular.
