A 46-year-old member asked:

what type of orthotic is best for high arch?

1 doctor answer4 doctors weighed in
Dr. Brynn Ewen
Podiatry 19 years experience
Custom orthotics: As with many things in life, there is good, better, best. This is true for orthotics too. Custom orthotics are by far the best. Make sure that your podiatrist uses plaster to cast your feet in the "subtalar joint neutral position" so you will receive orthotics that correct abnormal biomechanics. Over-the-counter arch supports are made for the "average" foot and the arch will be too low for you.

What is the best method to find basal body temperature?

1 doctor answer1 doctor weighed in
Dr. Neeoo Chin
Fertility Medicine 40 years experience
Not accurate: As you first wake up place a basal body thermometer underneath your tongue for approximately 3 minutes. A digital thermometer is easier and more convenient. Unfortunately basal body temperature taking is very confusing. Any type of movement or any type of activity prior to awakening in taking the temperature will falsely elevated the temperature. Also when the temperature has risen approximately .6 to 1° ovulation has already occurred.

Leave them alone: The best thing to do is to leave them alone. Try to get rid of the offending agent, heat, over bundling; consider an office visit if baby's skin does not improve. It may be eczema or another common childhood rash.

What are some of the best home remedies for sunstroke?

1 doctor answer1 doctor weighed in
Dr. Ralph Morgan Lewis
Family Medicine 38 years experience
True sunstroke is…: …not a condition to be treated at home; it requires immediate medical attention to lower the body's core temperature so the brain is not permanently damaged. Lesser sun-related illnesses can be treated with cooling, fluids, salt/electrolytes, staying in cool environment. Check with doc as to whether any meds may put you at risk for heat-related problems.

I have a lump on the top of my foot and it hurts and I don't know why?

5 doctor answers9 doctors weighed in
Dr. Jeffrey Kass
Podiatry 28 years experience
A lump : Is not normal, nor is pain so it's a good reason to visit the foot doctor. You may have a ganglionic cyst which is a benign cyst filled with jelly like fluid but without seeing it you can have something else....Go to the doc for a check up.
