Lots of causes: Arthritis is the most common cause of groin pain. Other common causes would be hip impingement or a cartilage tear. Infection is very serious cause of hip pain that usually is very rapidly progressing and is often accompanied by fevers, chills, etc. You should have this evaluated asap.
