Surgeon's choice: I am assuming you are asking about the type of metal that is used in fixation of trimalleolar fracture. Anke fractures are usually treated with plates and screws made out of either stainless steel or titanium. The type of metal depends on the surgeon's preference and the manufacturer of the implants he or she chooses.

Steel, titanium: For any orthopaedic fracture the most common metals used are surgical grade stainless steel or titanium. Some recent implants are made from nitinol as well but those are more specialized. For the ankle the most likely thing is steel.
