Job description?: You should be able to drive within a week but return to work really depends on your job description. If these are small hernias easily repaired with minimal tension and you have a desk job, it is quite likely that return to work can be accomplished. If, however, the job requires heavy lifting, restrictions may be advised for up to 3 months.

Rapid Recovery: Most of my patients "lay low" for 2-3 days, are driving within a week, are back to a desk-job within 7-10 days, and at full activities in 2-3 weeks. However, recovery varies quite a bit by the extent of surgery, age-, fitness-, and pain-threshold of the patient. The best person to ask is your surgeon. Good luck!
