Yes: The hymen is a thin, circular or crescent-shaped fold of mucous membrane located just inside the introitus. The hymen can be different in each women. It can tear with intercourse, tampon use, masturbation. Sometimes it may not tear at all. The hymen can tear in several places or one place, as it is stretched. The torn edges heal quickly so, the hymen is never totally torn.
