No: Cysts usually do resolve on their own, if they're simple and fluid-filled. Birth control has not been proven to make them go away, but most think they help prevent cysts. Ovarian cysts can cause pain, but "cramping, " is not a typical description. There are many possible explanations for your symptoms.
