Sleep apnea: There are many possible answers to this question. One of them is that obstructive sleep apnea can be associated with afib. Osa is a problem seen often if obese people ( bit in others as well) that occurs when during sleep the muscles in the throat are relax and if extra tissue blocks the airway causing blood oxygen levels to drop and stress hormone release. This can affect the heart.
