My daughter is drinking too much alcohol, she forgets discussions , shouts at her univ age daughter , is hard work and stress the underlying problem?

Alcohol is problem: A hard lesson for many -- you cannot control / stop another person's drinking. It's useless to try to figure out the cause or justify it. In the usa, we have an organization called alanon, for people with an alcohol-abusing family member. Something like this could be a resource for you and your granddaughter. Hopefully the granddaughter can emancipate soon & perhaps you can help with this.

Stress: It is possible that her work is a factor but alcohol in and of itself can cause major difficulties and changes in personality. Encourage her to see a mental health professional for an evaluation. Best.
