A member asked:

Acute cerebral ataxia in (otherwise) healthy 7-yr-old female: could bronchitis 3 weeks prior be primary cause? or is it likely head trauma?

Post-infectious: The childhood onset of acute ataxia is often brief and fully reversible and is likely an automimmune reaction associated with a prior infection. Conceptually, view like an adult guillain-barre syndrome, in that case peripheral nerves. Have no knowledge of any relationship with trauma of any kind.

Unlikely: Acute cerebellar ataxia has been known to occur shortly after chicken pox infection (cerebellitis).
