Do not worry: Most closed head injuries by far are very benign, and kids are very resilient. Your description is typical of a fully resolved bruise over the scalp, and sounds only like he has upper respiratory tract infection now. However, if he seems very sleepy, has repetitive nausea and vomiting, and seems to act in unusual way, contact pediatrician just to reassure.

Usually : Symptoms occur within hours. Fever and stuffy likely not related.
