Definitely: A cyst can cause significant pain, especially if: it is large, it grows quickly, it ruptures, or it causes the ovary to twist (called ovarian torsion).

Cysts are natural: The ovaries are supposed ot make cysts each month, but once in awhile they can be painful. Make sure your doctor takes into account the bladder, intestines and endometriosis as other potential sources for your pain.
