Possibility: It is certainly a possibility, and many would begin thyroid replacement immediately after surgery to prevent enlargement of the remaining lobe and the future formation of nodules (which i assume is why you had the surgery in the first place). If your whole thyroid can't work well enough to avoid problems, what makes you think that half of it can do better? Talk w/your endocrinologist.
