What can i do to help break up the congestion of bronchitis?

Bronchitis: Mucinex-d or Robitussin (guaifenesin) CF otc and lots of fluids also you can try a cool mist humidifier in the bedroom.

Two main things: 1. Guaifenesin (the active ingredient in Mucinex (guaifenesin) and robitussin) 2. Use a humidifier or vaporizer. You can also take a deep breath and hold it for three seconds to help prevent accompanying atelectasis (small areas of lung collapse) see your doctor if this does not clear. You may need medical treatment.

Mucous thinners: Mucous is generally the culprit for congestion. Breaking up the mucous can be accomplished by drinking lots of water, breathing in steam regularly, taking mucolytics (mucinex) and antibiotics if the bronchitis is due to a bacterial infection.
