Is chest congestion the same as bronchitis?

1 doctor answer
Dr. Sue Ferranti
28 years experience in Internal Medicine
Not necessarily...: Bronchitis is an infection of the airways characterized by a productive cough. Chest congestion can occur as a result of bronchitis but can also be present with other things, like allergies for example. Your doctor can diagnose the reason for congestion so treatment can be initiated.
