Physical therapy: Exercise to strengthen your back muscles is the only long term solution. For temporary relief try heat, acupuncture, muscle relaxants or pain meds from an md, or over-the-counter migralex (it's not just for headaches - magnesium on it helps relax muscles and Aspirin relieves pain and inflammation.

Try inversion: An inversion system (anklets or table) can use your upper body weight to "pull" traction and open the intervertebral spaces to sometimes relieve these pains--instead of being right side up when the upper body gravitationally compresses the spot, making it worse.
