A member asked:

Clicking in my knee. does this always signify a torn meniscus or only in some cases?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Knee click: Clicking in the knee most commonly signals improper patellar tracking. This is from imbalance in quadriceps strength & can be corrected with quad strengthening. This is usually noted when rising from a seated position or climbing stairs. A meniscal tear can cause clicking or locking of the joint if severe. This would be associated with a greater pain triggered by twisting movements of the knee.
