Pitting can be: A sign of a disease like psoriasis or habit related. Maybe you are rubbing it a certain way during a certain activity...Say when you play football etc....

Unsure: Nail dents/ pitting might be related to alopecia areata, reactive arthritis, eczema or psoriasis.
