May be of benefit: Taping / strapping or use of a brace may be of benefit in the initial phase to help immobilize and support the area. Later on, the wrist will need range of motion exercises to improve strengthening. Consult your physician to see what they recommend for your type of injury.

Yes: If pain persists you should have x-rays taken.

Returning to play...: Before returning to play make sure you have full motion & good strength in your wrist. Once you are ready, taping/ bracing would be a good idea for extra support. Keep in mind that there are several ways to tape a wrist & the best method for you should provide support for injured structures, not put excessive strain on them. Remember: persistent pain may indicate that you need an x-ray/ mri.
