It can: The withdrawal should not last long. Withdrawal symptoms may vary and most opioids can be weaned down slowly over time with little to no withdrawal. The concern with using xanax (alprazolam) is that you may end up off of the morphine but then not able to come off of the xanax (alprazolam). Discuss with your doc.

Yes it can.: Benzodiazepines such as xanax (alprazolam) can help curb symptoms of opiate withdrawal. It is not wise to take them regularly, as then you will be replacing the opiate with the xanax (alprazolam). They can be very addicting as well. Be careful when you take them and try to spread them out infrequently if at all possible.
