A member asked:

Can ritalin (methylphenidate) cause cardiomyopathy ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not usually: Ritalin (methylphenidate) is a stimulant and can increase blood pressure. I don't think it can cause cardiomyopathy by itself, but it could exacerbate it. I would ask your prescribing physician about this, and get a cardiology evaluation if you are concerned.
