At Hi doses: Side Effects of Ritalin (methylphenidate) Some of the common side effects of Ritalin (methylphenidate) at prescribed doses include: Nervousness, Insomnia, Appetite loss /weight loss ( Weight Loss), Upset stomach, Dizziness, Headache. At higher doses, Ritalin (methylphenidate) has different effects. Most often, these are doses that would be taken by someone who is abusing the drug --they may experience euphoric affect.
