Post thrombotic synd: This is due to damage to the valves in your veins due to your dvt. Wear your stockings any time you are up--you may also need higher degrees of compression (20-30mmhg).

Vein valves: Once you have had clots in the veins, the valves are often "messed up" even though the clot is gone. Swelling is common...Wear your stockings daily. Consider seeing a vascular surgeon.
