Autoimmune disease: Hashimoto's is a condition where the immune system attacks the thyroid gland. It is important to take thyroid hormone but ideally best to also address the cause of autoimmune issues, but this is not easy. It can be related to mercury toxicity etc. See http://www.Umm.Edu/altmed/articles/thyroiditis-000164.Htm & http://www.Stopthethyroidmadness.Com/2013/01/09/anatabine-hashimotos-inflammation/.
