A member asked:

Will deaf people hear again without using hearing aid?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: There are times when patients will suddenly lose all or most of the hearing capacity in one ear. This is thought to be from a viral infection. With treatment about 35% of these patients will recover some hearing. Patients with long standing nerve deafness hearing loss will either need a hearing aid, or in profoundly dead patients, a cochlear implant may be needed.
