Corneal edema: Sleeping with contacts in can cause swelling of the cornea due to a lack of oxygen. It also increases the risk of a corneal ulcer which can damage your vision.

Two major risks: There is 10 fold increase in the risk of serious eye infections if you sleep in a contact lens that is not designed for sleep (there are only two brands - night and day & pure vision). The other is an increase in the risk of an inflammatory reaction from the contacts.
