My bf has had his 4th surgery to drain a pernianulabcess. other then the norm sweat, ingrownhair, crohn's what could it b? fruastred! 7 months now

Anal fistula: You boyfriend has an anal fistula that has not been discovered yet. Anal fistulas originate from the anal glands which drain into the anal canal. If the outlet of these glands becomes blocked, an abscess can form which can eventually point to the skin surface. The tract formed by this process is the fistula. If this fistula is not obliterated it can recur. See a colorectal surgeon to fix this.

Anal fistula: A fistula is the most likely cause- like a tunnel from the inside of the anal canal to the outside skin. If the tunnel is not removed or closed in some way, the abscesses will continue to occur. Have him see a colorectal surgeon for a complete evaluation and discussion of treatment.

See Gastroenterology: Perianal fistulas that do not heal or recur have a very high likelihood of being due to crohn's disease. He should see a gastroenterologist for a full evaluation. Surgery does not help if he does not also receive medical therapy. See a gastroenterologist before any further surgeries are done.

Perianal abscess: Perinanal abscess does suggest inflammatory bowel disease (crohn's ) this involves inflammation of the small and/or large intestine. Symptoms may also include abdominal pain, diarrhea, cramps , anemia, joint symptoms . If not already done, work-up by GI specialist should be done to define if this is crohn's and implement therapy. That therapy may involve injectable and/or oral medication.
