A member asked:

What does it mean if a person has chronic hepatitis c and their virus load is over one million ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

This is important: The hcv viral load does not predict how severe the liver damage is. It is important to determine whether virus is detected (if someone has active infection). If hcv is detected, the viral load may help determine how easy it is to cure with antiviral therapy. But people can have a viral load of several million and have no liver damage, or viral load less than 100, 000 and have cirrhosis.
