Like trauma?: If you experienced trauma to the face or mouth an are experiencing bleeding that is not stopping, you should see a dentist for a proper exam. You may have a fracture of tooth, perhaps the bone, or maybe both. Early intervention is important to ensure a good outcome. The bleeding should stop eventually unless you have serious trauma or lacerations which need to be treated by a doctor.

Pressue: Hit as in smacked? Are any teeth loose? Is it a laceration or cut? Rinse with some warm salt water and apply pressure with a clean washcloth. If your teeth are slightly loose, they could tighten back up, but if very loose a root could be fractured. Unhealthy gums will bleed more than usual. It would be wise to have a dentist check the area.

Should stop or ....: The bleeding should stop within a few minutes on its own. If not you should see a dentist. Even if it stops then, your teeth, gums and mouth should be evaluated by a dentist as there ate many things that could be broken or damaged that you might not be aware of.
