X-rays in Children: Yes. In many cases, because there is less tissue to "see" through, tumors and other abnormalities that may be lurking in the abdomen can be better visualized than in adults. This article covers some of the important features of childhood imaging techniques==>http://www.Fda.Gov/radiation-emittingproducts/radiationemittingproductsandprocedures/medicalimaging/ucm298899.Htm.

Sometimes : Tumors can be visualized on abdominal x-ray if there exert mass effect on normal organs or contain calcification. Abdominal x-ray is certainly not a definitive test to exclude a tumor. Other tests such as ultrasound can be performed depending on clinical suspicion.
